Development and Fundamental Drills are
the focus of every practice session. Our coaches

fundamental repetition is the process required for the
TRUE development of a player in the game of water polo. |

Introductory Player |
|
What is an
Introductory Water Polo Player? |
A player that can
swim, loves the water, and wants to TRY a
new fun and exciting sport. This is a
game similar to basketball and soccer in the
water.
We need to teach
them to "Eggbeat", dribble (swimming with
the ball), throw-catch-shoot the ball, rules
of the game and simple success strategies.
|
Practice
Sessions:
Two days per week for one hour.
|
Scrimmage Games:
4 per month;
games are
necessary in the development of a players
skills. They will experience what is
working and what needs improvement.
These games will be
officiated in a shorter course format and
focus is on the player learning the rules
and strategies of the game.
|
Tournament
Games: Not
Yet; Tournament
games are highly competitive and require
additional knowledge and skills - at the end
of the INTRO polo; you will be ready for
tournament games. The best teams in
the country are playing in Southern
California.

Frequently Asked Questions |
|
What
do I really need to know? |
What does my
child need to be successful in INTRO Polo:
3 things -
a good teachable attitude, ability to swim
the free style, tread water for 6 minute
intervals. We can teach two out of the
three - they have to bring the teachable
attitude with them.
|
Is Water polo a
rough sport to play:
The INTRO Polo program has been designed and
structured as a TOUCH contact program.
Rules have been modified to allow touching
and simple pushing similar to basketball,
but no underwater grabbing, holding, and
pulling. This will allow new athletes
to experience a new sport and learn to have
fun playing the game of water polo.
|
What is the cost
and what do we get:
the cost is $175 per player that includes a
USA Water Polo splash ball membership.
There are approximately 7 to 8 weeks of
practice and five games on Sunday. You
will get great experienced coaches that will
teach fundamental skills needed in the game
of water polo. We will also teach
simple freestyle swim technique to improve
the players speed in the water.
|
What is
"Eggbeat":
this is a form of treading water to keep a
player easily floating or with some effort
propel them up in the water for better
mobility to see, pass, or shoot. The "Eggbeat"
technique gets it name from your typical
kitchen electrical egg beater (or cake
mixer). The legs of a player are going
in a circle inwards in reverse direction
creating propulsion and energy downward.
"Eggbeat" is a
necessary and required skill for all water
polo players. It is easily taught,
easily learned, and with some effort, easily
used to the benefit of the player.
|
How do I
register:
You can register online, by
clicking here
or selecting the above registration link
above in yellow.
|
What should I
bring to practice / games:
Please bring a great enthusiasm and
excitement along with a swim suit and towel.
A speedo type swimsuit or jam swim suit
would be best for boys; and a full piece
suit for girls.
|
If we register
and immediately find out that it is not for
us or our child, can we get a refund:
Absolutely yes. We hope that you will
at least give it a TRY for three practices
before making a final decision - it may take
a few days to really know for sure.
