Intermediate & Advanced Water Polo

Boys and Girls - Ages 8 to 14

Development and Fundamental Drills are the focus of every practice session.  Our coaches are experienced at youth athlete development in the game of water polo.  "Correct" skill technique and fundamental repetition is the process required for the TRUE development of a player in the game of water polo.

Intermediate Player

What is an Intermediate Player?

A player that has learned to "Eggbeat", catch-throw-shoot the ball, and strategically swim the game.   Intermediate players know the rules and can play a specific position (2 Meter Center, Attacker, Utility, 2 Meter Defender or Goalie).

During the game, this intermediate player requires coaching and specific instructions to improve their decision process.

Practice Sessions: Two days per week minimum; it is recommend that an intermediate player that wants to become an advanced level player increase their commitment to 3 to 4 days per week.

Scrimmage Games: 2 to 3 per month; games are necessary in the development of a players skills.  They will experience what is working and what needs improvement.

Tournament Games: Once per session; it is recommended that an intermediate player that wants to become an advanced player increase their commitment to play as many tournaments offered.

Potential Cost: $175 to $225 per session plus tournament fee of $75.  A session is approximately two months with approximately 16 to 24 practices, 4 to 6 scrimmages, 4 to 5 tournament games.  This equates to 24 to 35 sessions with each session approximately $9.

Advanced Player

What is an Advanced Player?

A player that has learned to "Eggbeat", catch-throw-shoot the ball, and strategically swim the game.   Advanced players know the rules and can use them to their advantage to improve their ability in the game both offensively and defensively.  They can play multiple positions (2 Meter Center, Attacker, Utility, 2 Meter Defender or Goalie).

During the game, this player needs minimal coaching instructions.  Coaches instructions are more strategic oriented; allowing the player to utilize their skills in an immediate decision impulse.

Practice Sessions: Three to fours days per week.  An advanced level player must get at least 2,500 yards of swim conditioning per week.

Scrimmage Games: 4 to 5 per month; games are necessary in the development of a players skills.  They will experience what is working and what needs improvement.

Tournament Games: Once or twice per session; an advanced player will play both their age division and one level up; potentially getting over 7 to 8 games in a weekend tournament.

Potential Cost: $225 to $275 per session plus tournament fee of $75 to $150.  A session is approximately two months with approximately 24 to 32 practices, 8 to 12 scrimmages, 7 to 8 tournament games.  This equates to 39 to 52 sessions with each session approximately $8.
